Job Description
Summary/Objective
The maintenance technician is responsible for general maintenance and repairs in the plant. He or She will work directly with the Plant Manager and other lead personnel to prioritize equipment and facility repairs. This position focuses on maintenance, repairs and inspections of heavy machinery, equipment, vehicles and facilities, while maintaining a safe work environment.

1. Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
2. Coordinate with leadership to prioritize needs.
3. Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
4. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
5. Install equipment.
6. Maintains, cleans and assists with upkeep of facilities.
7. Purchases materials and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
8. Collaborate with outside vendors, if needed, for major or specific repairs or other needs.
9. Read and follow manuals, blueprints and other written instructions.
10. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, environmental policies and instructions.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment
This job operates in a plant environment. This job is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and radios.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
A pre-employment physical and drug screen are required prior to commencement of employment.
Required Education and Experience
1. 2 years of experience in shop maintenance, steel fabrication plant preferred.
