Job Description
Gatekeeper/Administrator performs a combination of administrative tasks and gatekeeping duties within a transportation or logistics setting. This multifaceted role is crucial for ensuring smooth operations, security, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Access Control: Monitoring and managing the entry and exit of vehicles, personnel, and customers at a facility's gate or checkpoint. This involves visually inspecting identification, verifying credentials, and ensuring that only authorized individuals gain access.
- Administrative Duties: Performing various tasks like answering phones, assisting employees and customers with questions, and maintaining records related to facility rules and company policies. They may also be involved in managing shipping documents, orders, and payments.
- Vehicle & Shipment Processing: Verifying and scanning documents like driver truck load sheets and vehicle bay tags before vehicles exit. They ensure that vehicles only exit with proper authorization.
- Security & Safety: Maintaining awareness of the facility grounds, reporting any unusual activities or potential hazards, and implementing gate locking and crash protection measures when needed. They play a vital role in ensuring safety protocols are followed and preventing unauthorized access.
- Customer Service: Interacting with drivers, visitors, and employees in a professional and courteous manner, providing directions or assistance as required.

- Strong organizational and administrative skills: To manage tasks efficiently and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: For coordinating with a variety of individuals and providing effective customer service.
- Attention to detail: Ensuring accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and adhering to security protocols.
- Ability to work in various conditions: Flexibility to work outdoors in different weather, and potentially flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Computer literacy: Basic computer skills are necessary for logging transactions and potentially operating security or administrative systems.
