Certified Welding Inspector Manager

Job Description
**All candidates must hold an active CWI certification with experience inspecting in accordance with AWS d1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel.
JOB SUMMARY:
Administers Quality Control/Quality Assurance functions as described in GSI Quality Control Manual
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure that all products meet applicable code requirements
Maintain reference library of AWS, ASTM, SSPC, and other codes
Confirm calibration of company production equipment
Administers (or outsources) welder qualification tests
Maintains list of company welders' certifications
Checks company shop drawings for accuracy and conformance to contract documents
Performs inspections both in-house and at vendor locations as needed
Inspects purchased materials prior to fabrication
Maintains material certifications for all raw material inventory
Coordinates annual AISC internal audit
Coordinates inspections by owner/customer representatives
Maintains certification/membership in trade organizations
Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Current CWI or ability to achieve CWI
College graduate or equivalent experience, preferred
Familiarity with AWS D1.1 Welding Code
Previous experience in Quality Control
Experience with AISC certification
Understanding of specifications relevant to steel fabrication (AASHTO, ASTM, etc)
Familiarity with coatings for steel - galvanizing, painting, powder coating
Intermediate computer skills, experience with ERP systems (M1 software, preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good math ability
Good reasoning ability
Good Word and Excel skills
CWI License
